Experience in Limb Lengthening & Reconstruction
Mr. Shalaby trained in three major Limb Reconstruction Units, in Cairo, Edinburgh and Liverpool. He developed a special interest in Limb Lengthening and Deformity Correction. He finished an Advanced Ilizarov & Limb Reconstruction fellowship in Liverpool.
He masters the full spectrum of Limb Reconstruction tools including the Ilizarov frame, the Taylor Spatial frame and Intramedullary lengthening nails.
In his current practice, he manages complex cases of lower limb deformity, in adults, below the knee. These include consequence of paediatric deformities, trauma applications, post-tumour-resection reconstructions, congenital deformities, neurological deformities and post-burn contractures.
He has developed new techniques in managing Complex Foot and Ankle Deformities including combining the gradual correction of the circular frame with Minimally Invasive Foot and Ankle surgery.
He is on the Faculty of several Limb Reconstruction Courses conducted annually.
