Mr. Shalaby trained in three major Limb reconstruction Units in Cairo, Edinburgh and Liverpool. He developed a special interest in Limb Lengthening and Deformity Correction. He finished an Advanced Ilizarov & Limb Reconstruction fellowship in Liverpool.
He masters the full spectrum of Limb Reconstruction tools including the Ilizarov frame, the Taylor Spatial frame, the Sheffield Hybrid fixator, the Orthofix LRS monolateral fixators, and Intramedullary lengthening nails.
He managed large volumes of complex cases covering the entire spectrum of the sub-specialty including upper limb and lower limb deformity, adult and paediatric deformities, trauma applications, post-tumour-resection reconstructions, congenital deformities, neurological deformities and post-burn contractures.
He has a special interest in limb lengthening, reconstruction of large bony defects, management of bone infections, infected non-unions, malunions, biological reconstructions, complex congenital deformities as fibular & tibial hemimelias, Tibia Vara, recurrent TEV and others.
He developed a special expertise in Femoral Lengthening with the Intramedullary nail, Biological Reconstruction, Gradual Correction of Complex Foot and Ankle Deformities and Minimally Invasive gradual correction of Blount’s disease. He published internationally in these fields.
He is on the Faculty of several Limb Reconstruction Courses conducted annually.
